Lava Lamp

 

You will need PSP you can download a 28 day trial copy here.

You will also need Eye Candy 4000 glass, you can get a trial copy here, and Super Blade Pro which you can get here

Ok now let's begin

Step 1: Open a new transparent image 400x400


Select preset shapes tool


Select a background colour of your choice and set your foreground to null

layers/add new vector layer
holding down right mouse button, draw an elipse from the centre of your canvas, like this and if need be you can make adjustments to your elipse

when you are happy with any adjustmants you have made, right click on your layer palette and select convert to raster.
Selections/select all/selections/float/selections/modify/expand by 1.
Layers/new raster layer
Effects/plug in fillters/eyecandy 4000/glass I used the aqua preset, but you may like to toy with the settings and chose the one that you prefer. Apply
Selections/select none
turn off layer1 in your layer palette
layers/merge/merge visible, rename this layer lamp.

Step 2: Using your selections tool set to rectangle:

feather 0 antialias checked,
draw a rectangle across the top of your elipse, like so

selections/float
Layer/new raster layer
set background colour to white #FFFFFF and on the new layer, using floodfill tool,
floodfill the selection.
Effects/plugin filters/flamingpear/superbladepro,
and apply the gold_shiny preset.

Selections/select none rename this layer top.

Step 3: Activate lamp layer, layers/new vector layer name it base
Using pre set shapes tool
select triangle, with settings as shown


Draw out a triangle like this on your canvas,
you may need to adjust the nodes as shown, to make it fit.
On your layer palette, right click/convert to raster.
using selection tool set to rectangle, make a selection across your triangle at the points where it meets your lamp and down to the bottom of your canvas, so that the base area is inside your selection, like this


Selections/float/selections/invert Hit Delete.

Selections/invert
effects/plug in filters/flaming pear/super blade pro
and apply gold shiny preset.


selections/select none

Step 4: Click on layer 1 in your layer palette
Layers/new raster layer name this layer cone
select your lasso tool with the following settings


and draw out a rough cone shape


and flood fill with the colour of your choice, you will not see the colour at this stage unless you turn off your lamp layer, but it is there.

Selections/save to disk, name your selection cone.sel and click save, we will be using this later
selections/select none.

Step 5: Layers/new raster layer
select your lasso tool
again and draw out a blob
and flood fill with the same colour, selections save to disk, name as blob1.sel and click save, we will be needing this later.
Selections select none.

Layers new raster layer
select your lasso tool again
and draw out another blob
a little higher up this time and flood fill with the same colour again,
selections save to disk, name as blob2.sel and click save, we will also be needing this later.
Selections select none.

Now if you turn off your lamp layer and take a look, you should have something like this,

 

if not, then use your mover tool to re-arrange your blobs a little

Turn of layers top, base, lamp and layer 1 in your layer palette, layers/merge/merge all visible rename lava
in your layer palette adjust opacity to 85
on lamp layer adjust opacity to 50 pull down tab next to normal
and select luminance.

 


Now we are going to duplicate this image as we will need a few of them,
so hold down shift and press D, do this 5 times in all.
Minimise your original and 4 of the copies
on the open copy, turn off layer 1
layers merge/merge visible
edit/copy/edit/paste as new image
file save as lavalamp1.psp minimise


close the duplicated image, no need to save.
