CM Quilt Frame


To work this Tutorial you will need: Paint Shop Pro, Crescent Moon Filters, Ulead Art Tex Filter, Inner Bevel preset (extract this to your psp presets folder), a corner ding font and an image of your choice.

Lets get started:

Open an image of your choice and duplicate it, shift+D, name it and save it, close the original.

Remember to save your work often.
1. Set your background colour to Black #000000, Image/add borders 1 symetric checked.

2. Set your background colour to White #FFFFFF, Image/add borders 3 symetric checked, using the magic wand tool set with tolerance 0, feather 0 select your border by clicking on it, Effects/PIug in filters/ Ulead/Art texture, click edit and select palette 5 (the gold one), click ok and then select pattern #1, click ok. Effects/3D Effects/InnerBevel and apply the QuiltFrame_bpg preset. Do not deselect.

3. Selections/Invert, Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using the folowing settings, H2 V2 O75 B4 colour black #000000. Repeat this cutout once more changing the H+V setting to -2.

4. Using the colour picker tool select a light colour from your image as your background colour. Image/Add borders, 10 symetric checked. With your magic wand tool and the same settings as before select your border, Effects/Plugin Filters/Crescent Moon/Quilt using these settings, Horizontal spacing 255, Vertical spacing 175 Transparency 0.

5. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

6. Once again repeat steps 2 and 3.

7. Using the colour picker tool select a medium colour from your image as your background colour. Image/Add borders, 15 symetric checked. With your magic wand tool and the same settings as before select your border, Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds using these settings, W 10, O 30, colour Black #000000, Horizontal unchecked then repeat this blinds effect again this time with the Horizontal checked.

8. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

9. Using the medium colour that you selected from your image in step 7, repeat step 4 but this time change the border size to 20.

10. Effects/3D Effects/InnerBevel and apply the QuiltFrame_bpg preset, then repeat step 3.

11. Set your background colour to White #FFFFFF, Image/add borders 5 symetric checked, using the magic wand tool with the same settings select your border and apply the Unilead art tex, once again using the same settings, then repeat step 3. Resize your image at this stage so that the longest side is 400 pixels. Effects/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask, with these settings, R 10, S 20, C 5.

12. With your foreground colour set to null and your background colour set to white #FFFFFF, select your text tool, vector and antialias checked and using your corner ding size 100 apply the ding to one corner of your image moving it into position by using the handle, when you are happy with it's placement, convert to raster.

13. Selections/Select All, Selections/Float and apply the same Art tex and Inner Bevel as before, then apply the following Drop Shadow H+V 2, O 75, B4, colour Black #000000, deselect.

14. Layers/View/Current Only, you should now only be able to see your ding. In the layer palette, right click and duplicate, Image/Mirror, layers/Merge Visible, then right click and duplicate this merged layer, Image/Flip. Layers/View/All, Layers/Merge All Flatten and save and your done.
